Senior Adult Ministries

Senior Adult Ministries seeks to embrace and to respond to God's view of aging, offering opportunities for friendship, learning, and joy for both seniors and those who are caregivers.

The Senior Adults at Calvary Memorial Church are an integral part of the church family, serving as elders, Sunday School teachers, choir members, greeters, and in many other capacities. They are excellent role models for the younger members of the church body. In addition, they have several regular activities of their own.

Activities
SENIOR CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP meets at 12:00 on the third Thursday of the month. The event includes a delicious meal, followed by a special program of music and/or a guest speaker.

Visitation
Calvary Memorial Church has a heart for our seniors in nursing homes and those that are homebound. We have a visitation system in place to ensure that our seniors are getting sufficient contacts. Visitors leave a greeting card to help relatives recognize that a visit has been made. The card contains words of Scriptural encouragement and comfort.

Caring
Our Caring Ministry keeps in touch with our homebound seniors and those in residential care through visitation and regular church mailings. Many of those who are confined make it their special ministry to pray for the many different facets of church life.

A Senior Visitation Center is being provided that will support those doing visitation and to encourage others to make calls. This is located at the Information center and is a place where materials such as greeting cards, visitation cards, and tracts can be obtained. Other materials such as Our Daily Bread devotional booklets, gifts, and tapes of our church services can be requested at the church office and from the Seniors' Pastor.

Special Classes From time to time, special classes will be held to deal with subjects of interest to those involved in the Senior Adult Ministry. These classes will cover how to make calls in nursing homes and to those who are homebound; how to understand the specific needs and problems of seniors; and how to communicate with the seniors in nursing homes.
The Visitation Team meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6 PM, for prayer and training. Everyone is invited to participate in these meetings.
