FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Troy Dueck has been an invaluable asset to us this summer and last. He has carefully and prayerfully carried out his duties as our Summer Youth Worker, and this summer he has also fulfilled his internship requirements for the Moody Bible Institute.
Troy will be preaching tonight, and I am happy to give him the opportunity and for us to have the opportunity to learn from him as well. Troy takes time and gives thought to curriculum for our students and also does so as he approaches a preaching assignment. I ask you to encourage him tonight.
Some of you will wonder: Is this Troy’s last day here? No. He will be with us until mid-August, but this is the only Sunday night that was possible for him to preach.
We will again meet downstairs because of the heat.

The 2009 Anniversary Offering was for hymnal replacement. Those monies are now in place, and progress is being made for this significant expense and ministry addition.
Our hymnals are about 25 years old, and they are “tired.” Over the years, some have disappeared for a variety of reasons. It is time to both update and replace.
Plans are to have this completed by late fall, at which time we’ll have a grand song service, joining together in praise!

Our children warned me about something. They said, “Papa, when you get a Facebook account and never confirm any friends, you’ll get in trouble.”
I do have a Facebook account. I use it for family, and that is all. I’m on track for having the largest number of unconfirmed “friends.” So there you have it.
Facebook is a family website for me, and your being “quietly ignored” as Facebook puts it so marvelously euphemistically, is not personal–it’s extremely general.
Grace and peace,
Nathan Joy James

Beneath the Cross
Beneath the cross of Jesus I find a place to stand,
And wonder at such mercy that calls me as I am.
For hands that should discard me
Hold wounds which tell me come.
Beneath the cross of Jesus my unworthy soul is won.
Beneath the cross of Jesus, His fam’ly is my own.
Once strangers chasing selfish dreams;
Now one through grace alone.
How could I now dishonor the ones that You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus, see the children called by God.
Beneath the cross of Jesus, the path before the crown,
We follow in His footsteps where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us to be His perfect bride.
Beneath the cross of Jesus, we will gladly live our lives.

Chosen Generation (I Peter 2:9)
For you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
A holy nation, a peculiar people,
That you should show forth the praises of Him
Who has called you out of darkness, out of darkness,
Out of darkness into His marvelous light,
Into His marvelous light. (Repeat)
